Dr. Vail and the Advanced Footcare Clinic believe in treating the whole patient. We are concerned with our patients' overall well being- we know that encouraging a health lifestyle encourages healthy feet! This time of the year is the perfect time of the year to be excited about being outdoors. The spring is fresh and new, the weather is warm, and the sun shines. We would encourage you to get out and enjoy the weather. Here are some suggestions:
-Get some exercise! There is nothing better for your body than some exercise, but this can be fun too. Take a close friend, family member, or even your pet for a walk. Go for a bike ride. Enjoy a self propelled boat ride, like in a canoe or pontoon boat. The options are almost endless.
-Garden. This is a great time of year to spend some time in your garden or flower beds. Your plants will benefit form the attention, your yard will look great, and you will enjoy some of the fresh air.
-Read a book. Switch off the television, computer, and video games and take a find a good book or magazine. Take it to a favorite outdoor location for some reading and sunshine. You can also use this tip to switch up your stale study habits. The end of the year usually has increased academic requirements for high school and college students (and their teachers and professors). Doing your work outside is a great way to re-energize at the end of a term.
-Lay in the grass. Take some time to unplug from business and technology. Spend a little time outside soaking in the sun and relaxing. Even a brief moment alone to relax or a cat nap can help you re-energize for the rest of the tasks of your day.
-Focus on hobbies. Take some time for yourself.
-Spend time with your family. There is no better chance to see your loved ones then in the spring, when everyone is brimming with excitement and energy. Plan an outing together. Play an outdoor game. Have a picnic. Do something that you all enjoy and can agree on.
-Clean. Yes, even cleaning can help your mood. Allowing fresh air into a house that has been stale over the winter and lighten your mood. Spring cleaning also gives you a chance to reorganize and re-inventory all those things you have in your life. Maybe you will rediscover a project you have been meaning to do, or find a photo which reminds you to call or email an old friend. The organization will also be more conducive to your productivity. And a clean house helps reduce your risk of getting sick.
We want you to remember to enjoy your spring, and take great care of yourself, because we feel that your overall health is part of our practice!
