Old shoes do not serve your foot health. They lack the support your foot needs. You should evaluate all of your shoes, especially the ones you just dug out of storage. Are your shoes still waterproof? During the winter your feet are exposed to snow and ice. Once this melts in can get into your shoes and increase the moisture they retain. Warm, moist, dark areas are a prime location for the growth of fungus, making your feet susceptible to toenail fungus and athlete's foot. You also want to make sure that your shoes and snow boots still have adequate support in the arch and for the ankle. One of the reason so many people choose to wear boots in the winter, besides the snow, is for the added support of their ankles in slippery conditions. Make sure your seasonal shoes are in good condition to protect you from the elements.
