Giving Blood

The Holiday season is often a time we remember to give. And the New Year reminds us that we can make a new start and change those things which frustrate us. There is no better way to give someone else a new start than by donating blood. Blood is an important medical need. Blood is used in transfusions for surgeries, trauma patients, and for patients who have cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell anemia and other illnesses. And as blood doesn't keep, there is always a demand. Only 1 out of every 100 Americans donates blood. Removing those who are ineligible to donate, that means that only 5% of those who are eligible are actually donating. The process is not hard, and only takes about an hour. Scheduling an appointment to donate blood is easy, and will not require large amounts of your time. But with every pint of blood donated, three lives will be benefited, maybe even saved. donating blood is a way for everyone to become an every-day hero. If you have any questions about the process or where to donate, just visit the Red Cross blood donation webpage at: https://www.givelife.org/. They go into great detail about the process of donating, as well as what happens with your blood afterwards. Giving so little can benefit someone else so much, and that is in the spirit of the season.
