Minor League Baseball!
A simple and fun event for the whole family is minor league baseball games. Usually these clubs focus their games and activities around families and children. This is a great atmosphere in which to get your children acquainted with and interested in America's game. Minor league tickets (and other associated prices) are generally less expensive than their major league counterparts and easier to get. And with minor league teams in Toledo, Dayton, and Columbus, Findlay is in a great location to find lots of possible dates and times for games. Often these clubs will have theme and event days, so be sure to check out special events and pricing to get that extra value and experience out of your trip. This is a super easy and flexible way to get the whole family (even the extended family since it's easy to take lots of people to a baseball game) to an outdoor event together.
Here are some tips we offer to help make your experience more enjoyable:
-Make sure you discuss with your children your rules for behavior in crowds. Do your children need to hold your hand when entering and leaving the stadium to avoid getting lost?
-Bring Sunscreen. The end of the game can be miserable if you're sun burnt, and that can ruin the experience for yourself or your children. It is also helpful to wear a hat or sunglasses. Perhaps getting your child a hat for the team you're going to see will help increase their interest.
-Find out ahead of time about autograph signing by the players, warm ups, and other events by visiting the club's website. Seeing player's hit home runs in warm ups and getting autographs will be part of the excitement for your children.
-Wear the right shoes. You should wear tennis shoes to the game. They protect your feet from the sun, possibly getting stepped on in a crowd, and spills from drinks and snacks. Besides this, with all those stairs it is very possible that your get a stubbed toe or twisted ankle. The right shoes will help protect you from all of this. And be sure your children have their shoes tied tight- they won't be thinking about footcare when they scramble to chase that home run or foul ball. (Looking for shoes?
